Jhonas Enroth is maing a strong case to be named MVP of the IIHF World Hockey Championships.
Enroth is 5-1 with two shutouts, .955 save % and a 1.17 GAA.
Knowing the ultra competitive Swede the way I do, he'd probably say "who cares" about the MVP. The only thing Enroth wants to have and hold onto forever is the gold medal.
Its well within his grasp right now.
Sweden has a chance t...

If you heavily outshoot your opponent, you win about 90% of the time. Okay, I just made that stat up, but you get the idea. Wear down the other team with constant pressure and keep them from attacking your own net and you've got a pretty good shot at winning a hockey game.
The Buffalo Sabres just defied that logic, defeating the New York Islanders 3-2 despite getting outshot 43-15. I'll le

"Why not look at strength of schedule, You can almost do like an NCAA thing where, at the end of the year, everybody ranks how you did against top-tier teams. But that gets complicated. That's just my idea. I haven't heard anybody else talk about it. And I don't even know if it's really smart, because we do play everybody. As for college, everybody doesn't play against each other."

Prior to the start of the 2011-12 season, both the Capitals and Buffalo Sabres faced high expectations. Each team completed its share of offeseason moves, and across the hockey world, predictions came in. Some that wagered Washington would win the Stanley Cup and some picked the Sabres to challenge for the Eastern Conference crown.

Troy Brouwer "We’re both kind of in the same situation as of right now, Since the beginning of the season everybody considered them to be underachieving as far as the season goes. They made a couple moves at the deadline, maybe they thought they were gonna be out of it and rebuilding but I think it’s obviously helped them. They’re playing good hockey we have to be ready for the start of the game because they’re going to come out with a lot of energy."
Karl Alzner "They do a really good job getting the puck, battling, getting it to the net and they’re good in front of the net, I think they fly under the radar a lot. People don’t always take them as serious as they should, because they got a lot of really good players on that team. I think that’s one of the reasons they’re being successful right now, is people take them too lightly and they make them pay."

The Sabres have reduced their goals against by nearly a goal a game by focusing on their defensive play, and the change has brought the team to the cusp of a playoff berth with eight games remaining.
Ryan Miller "My focus came back, and I was able to settle in as the guys started to improve their defensive play and their awareness, We've limited rush chances. We're doing a good job on the penalty kill and also not taking as many penalties. Just little things add up to fewer goals against, and the goalie in this case reflects his team. The guys are playing better hockey overall, and it helps me."
lindy ruff "They all go hand in hand, You put NHL defensemen back in the lineup and your play improves. A big part of it is Ryan's game. He's been on top of his game, which lends to not worrying as much about some of the mistakes you make inside a game."
