"As a line, we need to play better, It’s pretty easy to get down on yourself individually, but it’s tough ... it’s playoff hockey. It’s three guys all on the same page, doing the things together. We need to support each other better, closer together, more communication. It’s not one guy that has to pick it up, it’s got to be a unit. Very rarely do you see one guy playing great on a line and the other two guys aren’t playing well. We have to find a way to make it work."

"Hopefully it builds confidence in our room that these guys are beatable, They’re the defending Stanley Cup champions, but if we play our game, we can play right there with them. I think we had the adrenaline going and we just want to be sure that we match that and maybe even bring it up a notch because I know that they’re going to come out a little harder."

"It’s really important, Starting without the puck, you get out on a shift and you end up chasing around for the first 20 seconds. … it makes it tough. We’ve got a lot of great guys in the circle, and it’s one of the little things that becomes more important in the playoffs, late in games when it’s a tight game."

"I just think you watch a game, and is it really better than it was a year or two years ago? (Are) there less head shots? Certainly the playoffs this year has been a revelation that not much has changed. Guys are still targeting the head and really putting other players in danger and at risk for serious injury."

The San Jose Sharks entered the 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs against the St. Louis Blues on (if you will forgive the pun) a positive note. Sure, they did not win the division for the first time in five seasons, but they did put two division rivals in their place in a pair of home-and-home series. After all-but eliminating the Dallas Stars with two regulation wins, they overcame a third period deficit
