When veteran winger Ales Hemsky turns 30 on Aug. 13, he more than likely will not be an Edmonton Oiler. Hemsky has tugged on an Oilers jersey 627 times if you count the 30 playoff games he played since his first game here 11 years ago. He has 451 career points and only seven former Oilers — Wayne Gretzky, Jari Kurri, Mark Messier, Glenn Anderson, Paul Coffey, Doug Weight and Ryan Smyth ̵

Bad news today out of some place in Europe, as Team Canada was knocked out of the World Hockey Championship by a completely inferior team of some sort. Media, the players, the coaches, and the fans were quick to point out why this impossible loss occurred. Team Canada, it seems, was suffering from a bad case of "Oilers".
TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger was quick to explain the condition. "Oile..

It was a day which should have been celebrated and trumpeted as the beginning of a new era and the launching of a new age in Edmonton. But it seemed mostly like the end of an excruciating, tormenting, torturing ordeal.

To borrow a phrase from another political arena, delivered with comic irony by re-elected B.C. Premier Christy Clark: “Well, that was easy.” Slightly more than five years after that city shaping report was delivered to Mayor Stephen Mandel, recommending a showplace arena be built in downtown Edmonton to replace aging Rexall Place, the project now has a solid green light from city counc

Q: What do you think Craig MacTavish will do with Shawn Horcoff this summer, trade him or cut him loose? I understand MacT likes his kind, especially a skilled plumber on the third or fourth line. (Philip Chin)

From one playoff run to another — the seasons of forward Travis Ewanyk and defencemen Martin Gernat and David Musil aren’t over quite yet. The trio of Edmonton Oil Kings may have seen their major junior post-season come to an end Sunday night following a 5-1 loss to the Portland Winterhawks in Game 6 of the WHL final, but now, the Edmonton Oilers prospects will get their first tastes o

His comment came as part of an answer on whether Sam Gagner could be relied upon on centre despite his woes in the faceoff circle; here in part is what he said: "Apparently from the analytics people, every 40 faceoffs that you lose in the defensive zone, one will end up

Overall, though, the Barons aren’t great guns on the attack. The Oklahoma City Barons scored 14 goals in their final two first round games to whip the Charlotte Checkers and advance to the second round of the AHL playoffs.
